Inclusive Sauna Sessions

In Lewisham, our Community Connector, Sokhara Goodall, has helped bring together local organisations and businesses to create new spaces where people can connect, relax and build community.

Working with Hackney Wick Community Sauna Baths, Dusty Knuckle, CnD Drinks and Moonji, Sokhara supported the development of dedicated sauna sessions for people of colour. The initiative was designed to create a welcoming environment where attendees could prioritise their wellbeing while building connections with others from similar backgrounds.

The sessions proved hugely popular, attracting more than 100 attendees and selling out quickly. The project also demonstrated the power of collaboration, bringing together community groups, local businesses and residents around a shared goal.

One participant said: "The people of colour sauna sessions are perfect. I'm so grateful for a space where I can find that cultural safety and connection with other people."

By helping organisations work together and access funding, Sokhara is supporting initiatives that strengthen community ties, improve wellbeing and create inclusive spaces for people across Lewisham.
